Mike Maignan – Keeper demands more to extend contract

Milan have spent the last few months ensuring that they are well set for the future, and critical names like Maignan come first on the list.

They recently tied Rafael Leão down to a new contract and aim to do the same with the number one keeper, Maignan.

Maignan is also aware of his worth, as according to Pietro Mazzara, he is asking for much money to sign a new deal. He currently earns €2.8 million a year, but if he were to commit to a new deal, he would want €8 million a year – almost four times more than the present one.

Maignan’s desired amount ould make him the highest earner at the club by a significant distance. In fact, that substantial amount would surpass the current highest earner in the squad, which is Leao approaching €7 million.

Maignan wants to stay at the club and is not asking for this money as a way to put the club off.

Both parties want the extension and will have to sort out an agreement. Maignan has put Milan in a tricky situation where they must evaluate just how much they want to keep the Frenchman.

Real Madrid ready to offer €20 million for AC Milan player

Meanwhile, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have set their sights on Malick Thiaw for next season. According to what they say in Italy, the Spanish giants would be willing to shell out a €20 million fee for the AC Milan centre-back.

Thiaw plays for AC Milan and has established himself as a regular starter for the Italian giants. He is also a German international.

AC Milan signed Thiaw from Schalke in the summer of 2022 for a transfer fee believed to be around €7 million. It is hard to imagine that they would be willing to let a regular starter, who is just 22 years of age, go for a figure around €20, in any case.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid ends up making a move for Thiaw in the future. The German international would be a solid addition to this squad for sure.
