AC Milan ‘to sack’ Stefano Pioli this summer

AC Milan are planning to officially sack manager Stefano Pioli at the end of the season, according to reports.

AC Milan to sack Pioli

The Rossoneri suffered a 2-1 defeat against Inter Milan on Monday, as their city rival claimed the Serie A title.

Before his dismissal, Pioli expressed uncertainty about his future with AC Milan.

“(Inter coach Simone) Inzaghi seemed to be struggling 14 months ago according to the media and look what he achieved after that,” he said after the game.

“I am happy here, I work well and I think the team has margin for improvement.”

“We’ll see where we all are at the end of the season and discuss it.”

Football insider Fabrizio Romano reported that AC Milan will part ways with the Italian coach.

“Stefano Pioli will be sacked by AC Milan board at the end of the season despite public statements after the Derby.”

Romano stated that the club ‘is already looking for a new manager.’

Prior to the Serie A defeat, AC Milan suffered a 3-1 aggregate loss to Roma in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Pioli’s legacy in Milan

Pioli joined AC Milan in 2019 after a two-year stint at Fiorentina.

The 58-year-old led the club to a Serie A championship in the 2021-22 season.

Overall, Pioli has a total of 129 wins and just 51 defeats across all competitions.
