Milan set nine-figure asking price for Maignan
AC Milan has been very busy rejecting offers for number one goalkeeper Mike Maignan amid Chelsea and Man United interest.
According to Calciomercato, Rossoneri will not entertain any proposal and have set a minimum nine-figure asking price to consider the matter seriously.
Is Mike Maignan leaving?
After the shock dismissal of director Paolo Maldini, many stars are believed to be exploring a move away this summer, including Rafael Leao and Maignan.
The French shot-stopper is attracting some interest, with the firmest belonging to Chelsea, as the London-base club has submitted at least two offers within two weeks.
Maignan was discontent with Paolo Maldini’s ousting, but insiders revealed that the 27-year-old would not leave.
He joined in a €15.4M move from Lille in 2021. His contract is up in three years.
Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing AC Milan goalkeeper
Not only Chelsea, whose €80M proposal had been turned down by Milan, Man United is also looking for a replacement if David de Gea decides to leave.
Both Premier League giants are the teams keen on signing the France international above all, given that both are looking for a starting goalkeeper this summer. Still, the Rossoneri have made it clear they have no interest in selling.
Calciomercato reported that only an offer of more than €100M could convince the Serie A side.
The Blues is desperate to find a quality goalkeeper since their number one choice, Edouard Mendy, will soon join Al Ahli from Saudi Pro League.
The 27-year-old missed a recent game with France due to a calf injury. His team was on high alert because he spent months on the mend with issues in the area in 2022/2023. However, the problem is minor in this case.
There is no doubting the importance that the 27-year-old has at Milan, given that he is more than just an excellent goalkeeper. He is the team’s first playmaker and leader on the field and in the dressing room, so the asking price reflects that.
