Aster Vranckx: Stats and Biography – AC Milan

Age: 20 (born October 4, 2002)

Shirt number: 40

Country: Belgium (capped at the U21 level)

At AC Milan since: 2022 (on loan from VfL Wolfsburg)

He might be the youngest midfielder in AC Milan‘s first team, but that does not deter Aster Vranckx. He came from German Bundesliga’s Wolfsburg, which sent him on loan to the San Siro.

The Belgian began his career with Mechelen, debuting as an 88th-minute sub at the 2019 Belgian Super Cup. His league debut came in a goalless draw away at Anderlecht in August of the same year, coming off the bench to replace Jules van Cleemput.

Following a long gap between appearances, 2020 became a breakout of sorts for Vranckx. After registering his first assist in their loss against Charleroi, he burst into the scene in their return match at home to Anderlecht. He scored one and assisted on another for a 2-0 win, before the season was prematurely stopped due to the pandemic.

With that being the last thing that happened before competition resumed, it enabled him to be featured in the following season. The Erps-Kwerps native of Congolese descent scored five goals in all competitions. His performance caught the attention of Wolfsburg, as he was brought to Germany on an 8 million EUR fee.

Vranckx scored twice in 24 league appearances for Die Wölfe. And after four more league appearances the following season, Milan took him on season-long loan with an option to buy.
