Milan 1-0 Torino: Giroud ends Rossoneri’s losing run
The French Connection of Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud snap Milan’s 4 game losing streak.
Milan 1-0 Torino: Giroud ends Rossoneri’s losing run as the reigning champions finally found joy after string of defeats.
The past few weeks were tough for Rossoneri who had failed to win in the last five consecutive league games, including the crucial Milan derby.
Frustration was growing while pressure on head coach Stefano Pioli gained games after games, which some even suggested that his reign should come to an end to save the club from crisis.
However, Giroud was there to set some lights at the end of the tunnel for AC Milan, scoring a header in the 62nd minute to drive the team to a 1-0 win.
Highlights – Milan 1-0 Torino
Giroud and Antonio Sanabria produced the only on-target shots of a opening half which seemed to be quite slow and uneventful.
Milan’s breakthrough came just after the hour, however, with Giroud rocketing a header home from Hernandez’s cross which was inch-perfect and converted perfectly by his patriot.
Theo Hernandez teed up that goal but then missed a golden chance to double Milan’s lead.
The full-backs should have settled the nerves for Milan after latching onto Pierre Kalulu’s excellent pass in the 76th minute, only to drill wide of a gaping goal.
As much as they tried, Torino could not make Milan pay as the Rossoneri extended their unbeaten home run against them to 27 Serie A matches.
Giroud was the man
Giroud proved the difference maker for Milan in the clash with Torino. It was a much-needed victory for the Rossoneri, who’ll be hoping to try and build up some momentum ahead of their next game against Tottenham in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg.
The French talisman has scored more than five league goals at home in a single season for his first time since the 2015/16 campaign (seven goals for Arsenal in that case).
The champions held firm to get back on the winning trail and must keep the momentum for coming games, in all competitions.
