Theo Hernandez

Position: Left-back

Age: 24 (born October 6, 1997)

Shirt number: 19

Country: France (7 caps since 2021, 1 goal)

At AC Milan since: 2019

One of the six arrivals from the 2019 summer window, the French international has been one of the bedrocks of Milan’s backline, as he fended off the challenge of Calabria and Ballo-Toure as their starting left-back.

Before going to the San Siro, Theo Hernandez has done well when he was on loan twice in his career for both Madrid clubs. His first at Alaves, from Atletico Madrid, saw him contribute for 38 matches in all competitions (32 in La Liga) as they made a run to their first Copa Del Rey final, scoring the equalizer but lost to Barcelona at the Vicente Calderon.

Despite a Champions League win when he was with Real Madrid in 2018, he was sent back to the Basque country, this time to Real Sociedad. Like in Alaves, La Real finished 9th but Hernandez had his capacity reduced to 28 matches but has started in all but two.

His form and consistency saw AC Milan bought him from the Bernabeu for €20 million in 2019, where he had rediscovered his form while at Alaves. On his debut season, Hernandez started in all but one of the 36 matches he took part, scoring seven goals.

The following season was his best so far, with personal records of eight goals in 45 appearances in all competitions, as Milan finished runners-up to Inter’s scudetto-winning campaign.

Those performances saw him debuted for France in 2021, where he played seven times and scored once, which was a 90th-minute winner for Les Bleus over Belgium in the semifinal of the Nations League which they eventually won.

He got his third domestic league title in as many countries the following year, as he claimed the Scudetto with five goals and six assists in 32 Serie A matches.
