AC Milan’s fabled academy has produced legends in red and black, with Baresi, Maldini and Costacurta being prime examples. The Brescia native hopes to follow in their footsteps as he was the longest-serving player in the current squad.

Calabria started his Milan career in 2006 when he entered its fabled Settore Giovanile and went all the way up to the Primavera, where he had been teammates with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Manuel Locatelli.

After making his debut on the final day of the 2014-15 Serie A season away at Atalanta, Calabria then played a total of 22 matches in all competitions in his first three seasons and was even considered being loaned out despite winning the 2016 Supercoppa.

But the injuries to new signing Andrea Conti meant that the academy graduate played a total of 30 matches (21 in the league) in the 2017-18 season, justifying his refusal to move out on loan to other clubs.

The loyalty was rewarded with a pair of three-year extensions, the latest of which came in 2021 where he extended his stay at the San Siro up to 2025.

Since that, he displayed his ever-present form having multiple seasons of 30 or more appearances each, with his 2020-21 season being the most with 39 (32 in the league).

He then expanded his role in the 2021-22 season as the vice-captain to Alessio Romagnoli, wearing the armband for 17 matches in all competitions, including nine of the last ten Serie A matches as Milan lifted the Scudetto after an eleven-year wait.

Internationally, he played seven times for the Azzuri after moving up the youth ranks since 2013 but missed their Euro 2020 triumph owing to a hernia surgery.
