Position: Right-winger

Age: 23 (born June 27, 1999)

Shirt number: 56

Country: Belgium (9 caps since 2020, 1 goal)

At AC Milan since: 2020

Alexis Saelemaekers is a proud product of RSC Anderlecht, more known as the first club of Belgian football stars such as Romelu Lukaku, Vincent Kompany and Youri Tielemans. He made his debut for them in 2018 as a second-half sub but failed to avoid defeat as they lost 1-0 to Sint Truiden in a league match.

Formerly a right back at the start of his career, he showed his versatility in covering more ground while attacking. Hence, he moved up to the forward line as his career progressed, thanks to his skill on his right foot.

After a total of 64 appearances and 2 goals in all competitions, Milan took him on loan in the final day of the 2019-20 winter window with an option to buy. He debuted in their 1-1 draw with Verona on February 2 as a late-game sub for Davide Calabria, in which it was the same match that Daniel Maldini made his Rossoneri debut.

Saelemaekers then made his loan move permanent on July 1, 2020, on a four-year deal with Milan paying Anderlecht €3.25 million for the transfer. Seventeen days later he scored his first goal for the Italian powerhouse as they mauled Bologna 5-1.

He then appeared in 32 league matches (40 in all competitions) on his first full season at the San Siro, scoring three times. The following campaign (2021-22) saw him increased his appearances to 46 in all competitions (40 in the Serie A), as he won his first trophy, a scudetto with Milan.

A full Belgian international since 2020, he made nine caps and scored once in a 3-0 win against the Czechs in a World Cup qualifier in September 2021.
