Ibrahimovic says “I am the boss”
Milan’s owners, RedBird Capital, announced Ibrahimovic returned to the club last December as a senior advisor.
The Sweden international announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Ibrahimovic enjoyed two separate stints with Milan, as well as playing for Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Barcelona, and LA Galaxy.
When Sky Sports asked about his role with AC Milan ahead of their Champions League defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday, the 42-year-old said that he is “in charge.”
“I am the boss and I am in charge, all the others work for me,” he said.
How will Ibrahimovic turn things around
The Rossoneri club currently lie in 10th position in the standings through four matches in 2024-25 season.
There’s a lot of work ahead for Ibrahimovic to turn the club’s campaign around, but he seems ready for the challenge.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic responded to criticism of his work from former club director Zvonimir Boban.
“When the lion goes away, the kittens arrive. When the lion comes back, the kittens disappear,” he said.
“The level is very low, there is too much talk but I only think about working. I was away for personal reasons, but I have been here since day one.”
AC Milan enjoyed a strong summer transfer window, bringing in Tammy Abraham, Alvaro Morata, Youssouf Fofana, Strahinja Pavlovic, and Emerson Royal.
Ibrahimovic was pleased with Milan’s transfer business in the summer window.
“It went exactly as we wanted, everything we looked for and was missing we got. The last one was [Tammy] Abraham, to provide an extra reinforcement in attack,” he said.
