At AC Milan since 2021

Born in the same southern Parisian suburb as former Rossoneri Jeremy Menez, Yacine Adli is touted as one

of the critical men for the future of AC Milan, where they have stocked up their midfield for Stefano Pioli

to bring depth to their first team when needed, sharing the same role with Sandro Tonali who will be his

closest competitor.

Adli fits the flexibility in the middle of the park, as he can operate either at the deep-lying regista or

attacking as a mezzala, which he prefers. He had a lot on his arsenal apart from his right foot that can

launch rockets from a distance, as his height (standing at 6ft, 1in) makes him a considerable aerial threat.

A product of Paris Saint-Germain’s academy, he had a hard time cracking at their first

team after spending most of his time at the reserves, appearing just once in Ligue 1 play.

He then moved to Bordeaux at the winter window of the 2018-19 season, spending the next three full

seasons there, the last of which came on loan from AC Milan signed him in the 2021-22 season.

While the Rossoneri reclaimed Seria A glory in that campaign, Adli had a rough patch in the country’s

the largest region, as his club was sent down to Ligue 2 after ending up dead last in the top flight.

Internationally, he has been part of the French set-up at the youth level, as he took part in both 2017

U17 and 2019 U20 World Cup, with Les Bleuets going as far as the last 16 in both tournaments.

Despite that, he has declared to commit his international career to Algeria, citing his ancestry. The

switch made it easier thanks in part to his Milan teammate Ismaël Bennacer (who had 40 caps for the

Desert Foxes).
